Synopsis

When the Berlin Wall fell in 1989 history was made. It paved the way for German reunification. But more than 35 years on, differences between east and west remain. And that’s reflected in the polls. Over the past years, eastern Germany has become a stronghold for the far-right AfD party. Regional elections are set to take place there next month with the AfD projected to make record gains.
