Synopsis

The world’s largest chip manufacturer, TSMC, has laid the foundation stone for its new semiconductor factory in Dresden. The plant is being subsidized with €5bn in taxpayer funds. For the German government and the EU, the goal is to become less dependent on China for critical computer components.
